What are the rules in the way you dress?

I only have one: no rules. It’s about being myself, being free.

Please describe your style in three words.

Free, dance, happy.

What is the biggest mistake one can make when getting dressed?

Thinking too much.

Do you believe in role models?

Yes, I do. My mother is one of mine, Michael Jackson, Jean-Michel Basquiat.

What are your favourite fabrics?

Cashmere, cotton, and neoprene.

Are there any style combinations that you object to?

Not really. In my job I see new styles, combinations and fabrics every day. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. For me it’s just about being yourself when you create outfits. Because at the end of the day who cares more about your own style than you?

Which city has the best-dressed men?

That's a bit difficult…I would say London. Yep, London for sure.

Would you say that you are conservative or bold?

I think I’m bold in a conservative kind of way [laughs]. It depends on the day!

Celebrities and style...

Is usually their stylists' business. Having a team that is taking care of what you are going to wear might be a nice experience (I think).

Name one garment/accessory that you can never have enough of?

Hats, I really love hats.

A man should always look like…

However he wants to.

Who taught you what you know about style?

My father taught me about style unknowingly, but besides him? The internet! And also what I do; as I said before, working as a photographer, an assistant buyer for two stores in Paris, and in the field of communications, you see so many different approaches, so many new ways of being stylish…I could say that I learn new things about style every day!

How do you select your clothing every morning?

It’s very simple. During my shower, I think about what I'm going to wear. It’s a really fast process but something that also depends on my mood (note: I’m always happy).

What is your biggest regret?

I don’t have any.

The three essential things a man should know about style are…

Don’t try to be cool; you either are cool or you are not. Don’t follow anyone's rules. Always defer to women.

Do you have any shopping rituals?

Not at all. If I love something, I buy it. If I'm hesitating, I pass.

We will never see you wearing...

I'm not really sure...probably anything pink.

The most stylish person you have ever seen...

Elina Halimi from the concept store Kabuki Paris is amazing! Michael Jackson and Jean-Michel Basquiat.

What is the first thing you notice on a man?

His shoes, and the way he carries himself.

Which new designers do you admire and why?

I wouldn't really say that I follow anybody, I usually like specific pieces. Gosha Rubchinskiy is maybe one designer I can use the word 'follow' with. I don’t know why, I just like his designs; his approach is simple and cool.

The only article of clothing that a man needs to pay close attention to is…

His shoes!

What are the most treasured items in your wardrobe?

My KTZ pieces; I keep them in a safe! Did I tell you that KTZ is my favourite brand? Well, now you know!

Is comfort an enemy of style?

No, no, no!

Which fashion house never fails to impress you?

KTZ is always new, always off the beaten track. Also Yohji Yamamoto and Dries van Noten.

Who would you like to recommend for My Style?

Elina Halimi, she has an amazing style!

The best words of advice you have ever heard?

Be yourself and always be polite.
