Are there any style combinations that you object to?

Cut-off jean shorts worn with leggings underneath. I just don’t get it.

Please describe your style in three words.

Confident, understated, and chic.

What is the biggest mistake one can make when getting dressed?

Wearing something that you are not comfortable in.

Do you believe in role models?

Yes, but there are a lot of impostors out there.

What are your favourite fabrics?

Leather, cotton, and cashmere.

Which city has the best-dressed women?

New York and Beirut.

Would you say that you are conservative or bold?

A little bit of both.

What are the rules, if any, in the way you dress?

Make sure to dress for your body type and whatever you’re wearing fits you properly.

Celebrities and style...

Don’t necessarily go together without a little help.

One garment/accessory that you can never have enough of?

Jewellery of course!

A woman should always look like...

The very best version of herself.

Who taught you what you know about style?

My mom, and tons of fashion magazines during my formative years.

How do you select your clothing every morning?

Depending on my mood and what I have to do that day, I pick one piece whether it is a shirt, dress, trousers, etc and work it out from there.

What is your biggest regret?

My big bangs in the late 80s and early 90s.

The three essential things a woman should know about style are...

How to dress high-low. The necessity of a great tailor or seamstress. Don’t look like you are trying too hard.

Do you have any shopping rituals?

I make a list before I go so I don’t get too sidetracked. Sometimes it works but most of the time it doesn’t.

We will never see you wearing...

Cut-off jean shorts and leggings underneath (refer to my answer above). Midriff baring shirts.

The most stylish person you have ever seen...

A complete stranger (woman) while sitting in the lobby of the hotel Plaza Athénée during Paris Fashion Week.

What is the first thing you notice on a woman?

Her level of confidence.

What are the most treasured items in your wardrobe?

A sequin and feather Matthew Williamson dress, and my mom’s vintage snake skin clutch.

The one image that defined your approach to style...

Any Botticelli painting. They confirmed that curves are sexy.

Which designer never fails to impress you?

Elie Saab and Chanel.

One article of clothing that a woman needs to pay close attention to is...

Her undergarments.

Is comfort an enemy of style?

No. You can have both comfort and style, just not with your Louboutins.

Who would you like to see next in €œMy Style€?

Natalie Decleve.

The best words of advice you have ever heard?

I’ve been fortunate enough to have been given two invaluable pieces of advice: Be yourself. Always tell the truth.
