Do you have any shopping rituals?

Yes — get in and out as quickly and painlessly as possible. I hate shopping.

Please describe your style in three words.

Schoolboy, uniform, blue.

What is the biggest mistake one can make when getting dressed?

Overthinking it.

Do you believe in role models?

Definitely. But we’re all individuals so I think it’s good to learn from others, but find your own shtick.

What are your favourite fabrics?

Cotton, corduroy, tweed, and lambswool.

Which city has the best-dressed men?

Milan and New York.

Would you say that you are conservative or bold?

In style, conservative. In personality, bold.

What are the rules, if any, in the way you dress?

If your trousers fit well, the rest will follow.

One garment/accessory that you can never have enough of?

Sweaters, and oxford cloth button downs.

A man should always look like...

He knows.

Who taught you what you know about style?

The internet.

How do you select your clothing every morning?

I wear the same thing just about every day of the week, so whatever I wore yesterday I replicate but maybe change out a shirt or a pair of socks.

What is your biggest regret?

Not buying Air New Zealand shares when they were down to 18 cents. They later skyrocketed.

The three essential things a man should know about style are...

Fit, colour, and cloth.

We will never see you wearing...

I used to be really black and white about this stuff but I’ve since learned that all it takes to change your mind is seeing one person rocking something exceptionally well. But I’m not a fan of black clothing.

The most stylish person you have ever seen...

Bruce Pask, men’s fashion director for the New York Times, or Robert Rabensteiner from L’Uomo Vogue.

The one image that defined your approach to style...

I’ve always loved that Jeremy Hackett book, Mr Classic.

Which new designers do you admire and why?

Ovadia & Sons, because they basically do a better version of what I wear every day.

The only article of clothing that a man needs to pay close attention to is...

His trousers. I always think if you get your trousers looking right, the rest will follow suit. But that said, a good jacket fit is equally important.

What are the most treasured items in your wardrobe?

My navy blue high top Chuck Taylors, made to measure suiting, Comme des Garçons 'Play' sweaters, Thugged Out Since Cub Scouts tees (Isaac Likes merch).

Is comfort an enemy of style?

No. Some guys look best in a pair of khaki pants and a plain white tee.

Which designer never fails to impress you?

Ermenegildo Zegna and Burberry.

Who would you like to see next in My Style€?

Lawrence Schlossman.

The best words of advice you have ever heard?

When someone shows you who they are, believe them. Courtesy of Grant Hindin Miller, aka my dad.
