What are the rules in the way you dress?

Be comfortable and wear clothes that fit your body. Get things tailored if need be, as people don’t come in three sizes (small, medium and large).

Please describe your style in three words.

Classic, simple, confident.

What is the biggest mistake one can make when getting dressed?

Worrying too much about what’s in style at the moment.

The most important thing when getting dressed is...

To make sure clothes fit your body properly and you are comfortable/confident in whatever you are wearing. Clothing is supposed to make you feel ready to take on the day, that’s it.

Do you believe in role models?

Absolutely.

What are your favourite fabrics?

Cotton and denim.

Are there any style combinations that you object to?

Sneakers with a suit.

Which city has the best-dressed men?

Paris.

Would you say that you are conservative or bold?

It depends on the day.

Name one garment/accessory that you can never have enough of?

Heather grey crew neck sweatshirts.

A man should always look like…

The best version of himself or Jack Kerouac.

Who taught you what you know about style?

My mother.

How do you select your clothing every morning?

Everything depends on the Weather Channel. It’s pretty easy for me though, I love me some jeans and a pocket t-shirt or heather grey sweatshirt.

What is your biggest regret?

Not sure if I have one honestly.

Do you have any shopping rituals?

Not really, I typically pop into stores on a whim.

We will never see you wearing…

Joggers with suit jacket.

The most stylish person you have ever seen…

Anthony Washington aka Awash.

What is the first thing you notice on a man?

His haircut.

Which new designers do you follow and why?

New? Not sure how new they have to be, but I love Public School, QC/WC, Unis, Our Legacy, and 3sixteen.

What are the most treasured items in your wardrobe

A vintage heather grey sweatshirt and vintage stonewashed Levi's from my favourite vintage store, Grand Street Bakery.

Is comfort an enemy of style?

Not at all.

Who would you like to recommend for My Style?

Our Head Barber Rob McMillen, Brian Trunzo of Carson Street Clothiers and Matt Hechtor of Hudson Clearwater Restaurant.

The best words of advice you have ever heard?

Fail harder.
