What are the rules in the way you dress?

I don't really have any rules, but I do like to wear things correctly. I like a half Windsor knot and I always wear the bottom button open on my waistcoats.

Please describe your style in three words.

Classic, nostalgic, and attentive.

What is the biggest mistake one can make when getting dressed?

Putting boxer shorts on back to front.

Do you believe in role models?

I do; influence is key.

What are your favourite fabrics?

Harris Tweed, Fox flannel, and raw denim.

Are there any style combinations that you object to?

Not really, style is individual. I can honestly say that I would not object to anyone wearing anything they like.

Which city has the best-dressed men?

For me, New York for sure.

Would you say that you are conservative or bold?

A little of both these days, but it's hard to look too conservative with the many tattoos I have.

Celebrities and style...

Have bigger budgets than most people.

Name one garment/accessory that you can never have enough of?

Scarves for sure; I have too many but just can't resist them. Especially if it's vintage Tootal.

A man should always look like…

However they want to.

Who taught you what you know about style?

Hmmm, many people, but my dad always had an influence over me. I remember being very young and him teaching me how to get a high shine on my boots with spit and polish.

How do you select your clothing every morning?

I select them the night before, and lay everything out on the bed. I then hang them on my vintage valet.

What is your biggest regret?

No regrets, just life experiences.

The three essential things a man should know about style are…

Wear good shoes, know a decent barber and wear a well-pressed suit.

Do you have any shopping rituals?

Spitalfields market every Thursday morning. I have breakfast and then spend all morning rummaging around and bumping into friends.

We will never see you wearing...

A dress.

The most stylish person you have ever seen...

Prince Charles.

What is the first thing you notice on a man?

His shoes.

The one image that defined your approach to style...

My choice in headwear.

Which new designers do you follow and why?

Too many to choose from, but I love Comme des Garçons, always have. Also, Rick Owens. I hugely admire him for his aesthetic. But for what I wear personally, I would say Ralph Lauren for sure.

The only article of clothing that a man needs to pay close attention to is…

His shoes.

What are the most treasured items in your wardrobe?

Too many to mention, but I would pick my 1930's style full bespoke, double breasted chalk stripe flannel suit by Timothy Everest.

Is comfort an enemy of style?

Not really, I'm comfortable in everything I wear.

Which fashion house never fails to impress you?

Ralph Lauren, especially his RRL line.

Who would you like to recommend for My Style?

Timothy Everest.

The best words of advice you have ever heard?

Listen to yourself first before everyone else.
